Another DIY Air Compressor (conversion from fridge compressor)

 I never had an air compressor. When I first saw a DIY project about making one out of a used fridge compressor, I started to collect the required components to make one myself. I found a 1/5 hp fridge compressor from an old refrigerator. A friend found for me a 7.5lt  used extinguisher.  I spent some time reading articles about converting a fridge compressor to air compressor and finally, I picked up the design I thought it was most convenient and practical, made some changes and finally did it.

DIY HDD conversion to microhematocrit centrifuge

There are so many DIY projects out there that use old HDDs.

I liked the idea of converting HDD to a centrifuge. So I made my version by converting an HDD to a microhematocrit centrifuge.

Microhematocrit is a procedure for determining the ratio of the volume of packed red blood cells to the volume of whole blood by centrifuging a minute quantity of blood in a capillary tube coated with heparin.A centrifuge spins the sample at a very high speed to achieve the separation.

Recently I had to fix a pair of shoes, so after some googling I found that there are some simple and interesting  mechanical devices out there.

DrawBot, ένα απλό και φθηνό ρομπότ ζωγραφικής !

Αφορά έναν απλό αυτοματισμό που βασίζεται σε έναν μικροελεγκτή (π.χ. arduino) και μπορεί να σχεδιάζει σε κάθετες επιφάνειες. Αρχικά θα μπορούσε κανείς να το χαρακτηρίσει ως έναν μάλλον κακής ποιότητας εκτυπωτή. Όμως είναι πολλά περισσότερα απ' αυτό. Είναι μια κατασκευή τύπου "κάντο μόνος σου" ή DIY (Do It Yourself) αρκετά απλή ώστε η διαδικασία κατασκευής της να αποτελέσει αφορμή για μαθητές, φοιτητές αλλά και οποιονδήποτε άλλο  να   έρθει σε επαφή με τον κόσμο της ρομποτικής και των αυτοματισμών.

  Ως προς το αποτέλεσμα, αν και αυτό δεν είναι καλό με απόλυτα κριτήρια σε σχέση ακόμα και με έναν απλό εκτυπωτή,  ωστόσο παρέχει και κάποια πλεονεκτήματα όπως η χρήση απλών και φθηνών υλικών (π.χ. στυλό, μολύβι, μαρκαδόρο,κτλ) αλλά και  δυνατότητα σχεδίασης σε διαφορετικά  είδη και μεγέθη επιφανειών εργασίας.

Επιπλέον, το αποτέλεσμα πρακτικά δεν επαναλαμβάνεται ακριβώς, όπως σε ένα εκτυπωτή, αλλά υπάρχει μια μικρή διαφοροποιήση που κανει την κάθε σχεδίαση μοναδική. Ή για να το διατυπώσουμε και με το πνεύμα των καιρών, υπάρχει μια δημιουργική ασάφεια.
